HOW TO REDUCE WEIGHT

Detox is short for detoxification and is a process of defusing or removing toxins from the body.
“Toxins can be any substance that harm the body such as ammonia, lactic acid and homocysteine which are waste products that result from normal cell activity, as well as human-made toxins that we are exposed to in the environment and from consuming food and water,” said nutritionist Salwa . “Different body parts work hand in hand to ensure that harmful toxins are chemically transformed to less harmful complexes and eliminated from the body,” she added.
Detox diets were initially a treatment used for drug addicts to help them cleanse their bodies from the toxins, according to . “A detox diet is a short- term diet focusing on healthy foods and drinks to improve body systems and improve energy levels, clear the skin, have regular bowel movement and improve digestion,” she said. “Nowadays, many women have found that this kind of diet is not only improving their body functions but also helping them to lose weight,” she added.
Detox diets require one to quit smoking and drinking coffee. “You might suffer from headaches in the first few days due to caffeine withdrawal. Another side effect is possible excessive diarrhea, which can lead to dehydration so make sure you drink enough water to prevent this from happening,
“The body can normally cleanse itself on its own. But if you decide to embark on a detox diet, just make sure to take supplements and include nutritious foods into the diets,” she added.
A detox diet is a great opportunity for one to juice and mix all the vegetables in a cup. “You can add all the nutritious vegetables and fruits in a blender and make yourself a detox juice using only fruits and vegetables,” she said. “I have tried a couple of recipes myself and now I include them in my daily diet especially when using vegetables and fruits that I don’t enjoy eating,” she added.
there are different kinds of detox diets,
1) It is also called ‘clean eating’ where you focus on consuming whole foods instead of processed ones. These foods include fruits, vegetables whole grains and lean protein. It also minimizes the amount of chemical intake and focuses only on eating organic foods.
2) Focusing on foods that are filled with vitamins, antioxidants, fiber and nutrients that the body usually needs for detoxification.
3) Liquid diet focusing on juices, water and smoothies filled with all the needed fruits, vegetables, dairy products and whole grains all blended together and drunk every two hours.
Consulting a nutritionist or a doctor is a must before starting out on any kind of diet, according to . “Pregnant women, nursing women and children should avoid a detox diet,” she said. “People with certain health problems such as liver or kidney diseases should always consult their doctors before trying this diet,” she added.
